Download and read online Foredoomed Is My Forest in PDF and EPUB The setting is Zimbabwe. In a move instigated by Mugabe, the author, Richard Wiles, tells of the violence and terror which accompanied the seizures of farms owned by white farmers. He relates his own harrowing experiences when his farm is invaded by brutish thugs, who proceed to terrify his farm workers, disrupt his farming operations, and threaten him with death if he does not comply with their demands. Richard Wiles has established a woodland nature reserve on his property which the government has proclaimed a Protected Forest. As an avid environmentalist, it is his passionate love and concern. He is determined that the government should no rescind on the legal status which it has enshrined on the forest. Likewise, he will fight by every legal means to keep his home of 40 years, 33 of which he has shared with his wife, Beth, who lies in her grave in a quiet clearing of the wildlife sanctuary. The action begins in 2000. It was then that Mugabe recalled the guerillas who had helped him to power in 1980. He put them on the payroll and sent them onto farms to act as "political protesters". They were known throughout Zimbabwe as Warvets. It was a group of these Warvets who came onto the author's farm and set up their base in the farm village. From that moment they played havoc with ordered life. It was then too that Richard Wiles began writing a diary. This became the basis of the present book. Within the pages he tells of the diabolical nature of the Warvets and the maddening ambivalence of the police and ministerial officials. Unending stress and frustration will move him to dispair. Withal, when writing up his diary, his innate sense of humour will often break the surface.

Download and read online The Heavenly Heart in PDF and EPUB After a fatal accident Lorelei Goodrow follows the lives of five people who receive her organs, including that of her father who gets her heart. Her untimely demise has left her in turmoil. She is unable to move on without letting go and letting go is the last thing on her agenda. Lorelei Goodroe’s father has her heart. She has many questions. First off, how did she end up on heaven’s doorstep? As hard as she tries, she can’t remember, not yet. Now that she’s there, Lorelei explores life below as it continues without her, first through a magnificent Golden Window—that portrays “what is”—and then finds she is able to view the same events through a parallel window—appropriately labeled the Silver Lining—as though she had never died (the “what if”). In doing so she makes some powerful discoveries, including the lovely adage that life on earth and what we do with it, of course, can make a difference, but so can death!

Download and read online The Verses of Hamed Karimi in PDF and EPUB This book is for anyone that wants to read, love, relish, and hate anything about a book such as this. This book which I have written right from the very basic to the primeval instincts of a human being--happy, sad, in love, hated, tortured, and rejected, to the inflaming hatred that one might have for the wrongs of society and all that promulgates from hence. You might find the contents of this book resonating either one or perhaps another side of the human emotion and the human psyche, which is so in total grasp of the situation and the instigation of the human ego and stigma that accompanies it along with hardship of reality, the sole remission which is giving in to the ecstasy and gravitating to the better end and leverage that one seeks. I have hoped to fulfill that by writing this book--compiled of short stories, quotations, poetries, paragraphs, mini plays, and three writings that I just added for the heck of it as I was deeply involved with them. To anyone who dares to dream.

Download and read online Tree in PDF and EPUB “Only God can make a tree,” wrote Joyce Kilmer in one of the most celebrated of poems. In Tree: A Life Story, authors David Suzuki and Wayne Grady extend that celebration in a “biography” of this extraordinary — and extraordinarily important — organism. A story that spans a millennium and includes a cast of millions but focuses on a single tree, a Douglas fir, Tree describes in poetic detail the organism’s modest origins that begin with a dramatic burst of millions of microscopic grains of pollen. The authors recount the amazing characteristics of the species, how they reproduce and how they receive from and offer nourishment to generations of other plants and animals. The tree’s pivotal role in making life possible for the creatures around it — including human beings — is lovingly explored. The richly detailed text and Robert Bateman’s original art pay tribute to this ubiquitous organism that is too often taken for granted.

Download and read online My Friends of the Forest in PDF and EPUB This book is filled with imaginary characters. I am happy and excited in sharing some of the unexpected actions of stationary and moving things of nature. Every place you look you find that you are surrounded by them. What if they could talk about their concerns or their wisdom? All things that have been placed on our earth have a purpose in our lives, no matter how large or how small. The stories in this book are meant to be amusing and inspiring for the children and the parents who read them. These stories also have an underlying message about the trials and triumphs of life. When we walk through a forest or a park, we seem to locate immediately the large things that stand out. I have always searched for the smallest insignificant part of everything I see in the forest as I feel that it is very important not to overlook as you are a witness to the beginning of life. Some inhabitants in the forest will become giants of the earth while others will remain small, but all are important to life on earth. Even though my name I have not mentioned throughout the stories of this book, I was there looking in and listening to the many conversations and now I am happy to share with the children what I saw and heard.
